Who corrupted the portion of the Gospel that reports Jesus’ death on the cross? Interestingly, Islam teaches that Allah corrupted the Gospel by tricking and deceiving people into believing that Jesus died on the cross. But why would Allah corrupt his own revelation?

Allah has not corrupted it.
And there is No reference given about this false claim.
Rather it is mentioned in Quran,
And from those who say, “We are Christians” We took their covenant; but they forgot a portion of that of which they were reminded. So We caused among them animosity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection. And Allah is going to inform them about what they used to do.(5:14)
